My grandpa had property up in the beautiful North Cascades. There was a family salmon bake there that day. The sky was never more blue, I swear, but the best part? We could see the full moon in that sky all afternoon. I get goosebumps remembering it. My cousin and I decided to drive up as far as we could on the dirt road (which became N. Cascades Highway). Turning on the radio, we realized you were minutes from landing on that moon WE COULD SEE in daylight! We stopped the car, got out, leaving the radio on and just listened. I’m crying thinking of those words “the Eagle has landed.” It was an extraordinarily beautiful moment. Thank you for one of the best memories of my youth!
